Raining men and Brazilian pirates

31 maart 2016 - Foz do Iguaçu, Brazilië

The last few days have been as great as the others. My backpack is starting to smell and gets heavier and fuller every time we go from one place to another, but the days are flying by faster and I can't believe I'm leaving to go back to the UK on Sunday.

We actually went surfing at Lopes Mendes! I ended up falling a whole lot more than expected but I'm proud of myself that I kept trying, because honestly, I felt quite defeated by the huge waves. But I am definitely improving! And I'm gonna keep trying until I can say I can surf! Our next stop after Ilha Grande was the historical town of Paraty, two hours south of Ilha Grande and four hours south of Rio de Janeiro. I absolutely loved it there! As Simone wasn't feeling well I ended up hanging out with some other people from the hostel, of whom I was the one that spoke the fewest languages and lived in fewest countries. (They were between 4 and 10 years my senior though, so I have plenty of time to catch up! I did out-drink every single one of them, haha)

Paraty is one of the cutest places I've visited! The restaurants are fantastic, the clubs are class, and the streets (although they completely flooded the first night) were picturesque! I saw people fall from the sky (literally, this obviously drunk or high Brazilian guy fell from a roof. He seemed to be OK though!) got hit on by a Brazilian Jack Sparrow and probably bought around 3kg worth of summer clothes. When I'm ever gonna need it again, I don't know, but at least I have it.

The day after Simone and I went back to Rio where we stayed with two different Servas hosts, both of them were absolutely wonderful! We made the second hosts dinner on the last evening after we played beach volleyball (Volleyball in Rio- can cross that from my bucket list!) but in the end I was mainly put in charge of mashing the potatoes and cutting the vegetables. So dear future husband, I'm terribly sorry to break this to you, but some women apparently don't belong in the kitchen.

We are now on our way to the Iguacu falls by the Argentinian border where we will be spending the last few days! I am beyond excited. The view from the plane already looks spectacular!

Xxx
